WHAT IS DICTATORSHIP ?

A dictatorship, also called tanashahi in Hindi, is a form of government where all the power rests in the hands of one person or a small group, instead of being shared among the people. In simple words, it means there is no equality, no freedom of speech, and no right to question. 

 

People living under dictatorship cannot openly criticize the government or leaders. The tanashahi meaning becomes clear when you see that under such a system, democracy, justice, and voices of ordinary citizens are silenced. The true definition of dictatorship is not just about control but about fear, blind obedience, and the collapse of reasoning in society. So, when people ask what is dictatorship or what would happen if India became a dictatorship, the answer is simple: freedom would be lost, and power would only serve those in control. This is the real defination of dictetorship.

THE RISE OF BLIND DEVOTEES IN INDIA

It is shocking to see how people have stopped caring that the country is slowly moving towards a form of dictatorship. Their ability to think, reason, and question is disappearing. In recent times, the trend of “Blind Bhakt” or blind devotee has grown in India. A blind devotee is a person who follows whatever a leader, religious figure, or politician says without thinking, without reasoning, and often without any real knowledge. Sometimes, deep down, they know that both they and their leader are wrong, but their ego won’t allow them to accept it.

Today, more and more blind devotees can be seen in India. They obey religious leaders, self-styled babas, politicians, and hypocrites even when they know very well that these people are misleading society. What is more troubling is that issues like corruption, rape, exploitation of the poor, caste and religious division, attacks on students and teachers, rising prices, unemployment, and even election manipulation are at their worst, yet most people do not care. Whenever someone dares to speak against such wrongdoing, these blind followers immediately label the person a “traitor” or dismiss them by saying, “Nothing wrong has happened to you, you are not dying of hunger.”

DISTRACTION THROUGH RELIGION AND HYPOCRISY

As this dirt in society grows, people’s attention is deliberately shifted towards religiosity. Every new day, a new Baba appears in the market, claiming that visiting his temple will remove all sorrows and fulfill wishes. Strangely, the same devotees who pretend to worship God are the ones who insult humanity. They abuse others, gossip, cheat, look at women with bad intentions, and spread lies, but on social media, they project themselves as the greatest devotees of their chosen leader or guru.

THE DANGER TO DEMOCRACY 

These blind followers neither understand the constitution nor the true meaning of democracy. And because of their blind loyalty, leaders who thrive on hatred and division are staying in power. Such leaders do not care about unity, justice, or the people; their only aim is to keep their power intact. This is how democracy dies and tanashahi takes birth. The rise of dictatorship in any country begins not with the strength of the ruler, but with the weakness of its people to resist blind devotion and question injustice.
